For those that are unaware, the current Navy women’s lacrosse coach, Cindy Timchal, was at the University of Maryland when they won 8 national championships; 7 consecutive. They also reeled off 55 straight wins which is a record that will likely stand for a very long time. Coach Timchal left Maryland in 2007 to take of the Navy job.

So, when Navy comes to Chapel Hill this upcoming weekend, they will have a coach that has plenty of NCAA experience. In fact, several coaches still in the tournament come from the Cindy Timchal coaching tree.

Not only will Coach Timchal bring plenty of experience to this game, Aly Messinger won two national championships at UNC in the last four years and she will be an assistant coach for Navy this weekend. It is safe to say this won’t be a team that is not prepared for the UNC Tar Heels.
