Sunday, March 1st, 2015 was a cold and rainy day in Chapel Hill. The snow earlier in the week pushed the game vs Elon to Navy Field. As soon as the whistle blew it was obvious the game was never going to be close. The Heels jumped out to a 6-0 lead in the first 10 minutes of the game and took a 16-0 lead into halftime. There were long stretches of the game in which Elon didn’t even get to control the ball for more than 10 seconds. If you were a UNC women’s lacrosse fan it was a beautiful thing to watch.

After the Tar Heels got up early Jenny Levy started subbing in players that have not seen a lot of playing time in 2015. The star of the show was Lindsay Scott who has four goals and an assist to lead the team with five points. A major highlight of the day was a behind the head shot by Sam McGee that was gorgeous. A player from Elon scored on a similar shot in the second half but by that point the game we well out of reach. The Tar Heels ended up winning 21-2.

This was a game that did not tell us much about the Tar Heels other than the fact that they can quickly score on inferior teams. They also played tremendous defense in the first half as there is no way the Phoenix had the ball for more than four or five minutes total. After a tough game versus Northwestern I am certain it was nice for the Tar Heels to coast to a victory.

One noticeable face that was not on the field versus Elon was Sammy Jo Tracy. I didn’t see her warming up and did not notice her on the sidelines during the entire game. I will be sure to keep an eye out for her when the Tar Heels take on UVA on Saturday, March 7th, 2015. This will be a revenge game for the Tar Heels as the Cavaliers knocked them out of the NCAA Tournament last year.
