You couldn’t have scripted it any better. With time running out Kayla Treanor wildly threw a pass to the middle of the field where all Kelly Cross used all her 5’11” frame to grab the ball and get it past Megan Ward to tie up the 2016 ACC Tournament Championship Game. Here is the still shot of the ball leaving her stick:


As you can see, the ball is just leaving the netting with 0.3 seconds left and is out by 0.2 seconds. For those that had the opportunity to watch this, it was one of the craziest endings to a women’s lacrosse game in NCAA history.

The final plan was set up by Marie McCool receiving a yellow card for using an illegal stick. The Tar Heels defense stood tall but not quite 5’11”. Here is the highlight video for the entire game:
