When Charlotte Sofield committed to UNC two years ago, many wondered if that would start the pipeline from Bishop Ireton to UNC. He father, Rick Sofield, happens to be the Bishop Ireton coach and Charlotte has gotten quite a bit of playing time in her first two years in Chapel Hill.
Alexandria, Virginia has become one of the hotbeds for women’s lacrosse. Carly Reed scored a million goals at St. Stephen’s & St. Agnes. Now, Sofield’s Bishop Ireton team is proving to be a national power. While they are no McDonogh School in Maryland, they are an elite program.
It will be interesting to see what the UNC classes of the future look like, but expect to see some of Bishop Ireton’s top players wearing Carolina Blue in the very near future.
